The Top 10 Science Fiction TV Shows of All Time
64What a task!
Science fiction television has been providing some of the greatest escapist entertainment there is for decades! Choosing the ten best shows will be hard. I am sure some folks will applaud my list and others will disagree.
How to choose the best? Hmmm, the shows that make the list must be cutting edge, and must have provided either pioneering breakthroughs, or exceptional adventure. Very well, see the list that follows...
Oooooh! This is a tough one....
Let's see, my list would have to go something like this:
1. Star Trek: The Next Generation
2. Star Trek: The Original Series
3. Battlestar Galactica (new version)
4. Stargate SG-1
5. Stargate Atlantis
6. Doctor Who (pick one)
7. Battlestar Galactica (Old Version)
8. Space 1999
9. U.F.O. (British, from the 1970's)
10. Babylon 5

Many of those shows are/were excellent.... But if look from more perspectives: weight, depth, acting and characters, srory/plot, cgi - no doubts, battlestar galactica is number 1. It's more than tipical science fiction show. Best regards
Farscape!!! Then Star Trek (the original) The Original had more than humanoid life forms.
I'd put Babylon 5 at the top, #1! I'd also include "Sliders", at least the first two seasons, it was a great show even if the critics didn't like it.
I might have dropped one or two for a couple of shows recognized universally as cutting edge television as well as sci fi. While some of the ways they envision the year 1986 are amusing in 2009, the points they make are timeless. And the writers they get for some of their episodes, well, I'm rather surprised that the Twilight Zone and Outer Limits haven't made the list.
Trouble is, I like almost all those shows! The older Battlestar Galactica had some good shows, but I really like the newer version! I bought all the DVDs and like the entire series. Babylon 5 is also a favorite.
Cheers, from a distant time, place and planet,
Captain Chef Jeff, Ruler of the Known Universe!

Hi, Smarticus, fantastic list! You should add a poll, though, that'd be neat. I *love* Dr. Who, but where's the Red Dwarf? *grin* I know, I know, you could only put up your top ten, Red Dwarf goes to eleven.
